The town of Claremore was the inspiration of the Rogers and Hammerstein play "Oklahoma". In fact the Rogers and Hammerstein organization and the state of Oklahoma have teamed up to celebrate the 1907 - 2007 Oklahoma Centennial . You can join in with the over 1,000 projects happening around the state. As part of the celebration Claremore is developing a CD/DVD as an audio or visual for the history of Claremore. 
As you may well know, Claremore is also the birth place of Will Rogers, and Will's father was one of the first settlers in the Claremore area. As a famous author and humorist, Will Rogers is also commemorated in the town of Claremore with a very special museum. Not to mention a few streets and even a Rogers County was named in his honor.
Claremore is home to the Claremore Expo Center where horse shows and barrel racing contest are likely to be happening all year round. The Fall months however, will bring the Bluegrass and Chili Festival. Three musical stages of free entertainment await the families of Claremore.Along with Chili Cook-offs, Junior Talent Show, arts and crafts and a beautiful quilt show.
Claremore History | Originally the town was named Claremont which meant "Mountain with a Clear View" Verdigris River was one of the first places inhabited in the Claremore area. The Osage Indians were later moved to a reservation eventually known as Osage County. The Cherokee Indians were given the rights and title to the Claremont land and were very industrious and successful in their business and economic endeavors. They had structured a well thought out constitutional government, establishing towns with a very broad school system. The Cherokee were a very proud people and the town of Claremore has a very extensive Hall of Fame.
Claremore OK Today | The town's population is approximately 17,314 as of the year 2006. Presently there are over 6,000 housing units and only about 1/3 of them are renter occupied. Claremore is part of the seventh district of the Cherokee Nation. 
Tulsa Airport is the closest public airport besides the industrial airport in Pryor.
The U.S. Department of Energy sponsors the Weatherization Assistance Program for the citizens of Claremore and the state. Claremore Christian Schools is a private school and was created in 1985. The school has pre K through 12 grade students. The school is recognized by the Oklahoma Department of Education and meets all requirements as such. They have a very diverse athletic program and elective classes in the fine arts, foreign language and Computer. Claremore Trails Project is planning 25 corridors in the city to be developed into unique trails.Working with LPCI, Claremore expects the ongoing project to be finished within the next 15 years.
Claremore Regional Hospital has a full accreditation and acute care program. The hospital has been in service to the residents of Claremore and the entire Rogers County since 1955. The website can provide information on employment and volunteers.
